Testimonials

Our first birth was at a birthing center with a midwife. For our second child, after being through labor once, I felt comfortable with having a home birth. Our midwife had to move out of state when I was about 6 months pregnant (talk about stress!). After interviewing other midwives, we chose Karen to continue down our path with us.

And I believe EVERYTHING happened for a reason! Karen jumped right in and seamlessly took over our care. Being a certified nurse midwife brought us a ton of comfort as we knew she had an extensive medical background and could offer more medical expertise should me or the baby have needed it. From the first appointment with her, well actually the first phone interview we did, her calming presence was contagious. She made us feel calm and in control because SHE was calm and in control. And that went all the way through to our birth.

I had prodromal labor for maybe a week before my baby came. Karen was extremely available to discuss options and give advice on what to do or what not to do (sweep membranes, etc). I appreciated having open conversations about options and that ultimately, she let us decide how to proceed.

When labor was underway in the middle of the night (1:30am), Karen responded to my husband’s text within a minute and was at our house within 20 minutes. Our son was born an hour later. But even though we had a fast and furious labor, I remember Karen saying some key things to me that really helped my intense labor. She remained calm the entire time which helped bring my adrenal down as well. I could go on and on, but ultimately, we highly recommend Karen!

Thank you for being a part of one of the most important and amazing days of our lives that we will never forget!

Karen is such an amazing woman & midwife!! She is supportive, caring, & empowering. I have not only had the pleasure of seeing her as a midwife during my own pregnancy during prenatal appointments but the honor to work alongside her as a birth assistant! She is passionate about women’s health and advocating for her mamas & their families.

Karen was one of midwives while at another practice. She was amazing and stayed up with my all night through my long labor! She gave honest feedback and my husband and I truly felt “empowered” and informed in our decision making. We got to have the birth we wanted and I am so thankful for Karen!

I can't express how grateful I am for Karen, my midwife. She guided me through bringing my first born into the world. We had our daughter at Beach cities midwifery, and I would not have gotten through it without Karen. Birth is beautiful, no matter how you bring life into this world, but I especially wanted the experience of a natural childbirth in a bath surrounded by just my husband and midwives.

I was able to experience all that and so much more. Karen was there in the moments of deepest pain when I didn't think I would make it, she spoke soft words of encouragement and intuitively knew when to give my husband and I space. She was patient, gentle, and confident. She allowed me to dig deep into my own confidence and let my body do what it needed to do, and what it was designed to do. I was completely comfortable and felt safe. What more can you ask for when bringing your baby into this world?

I encourage any family who is considering at-home births to reach out and experience the gift of childbirth with Karen as your midwife. Her knowledge of skills, sweet personality and overall deepest care for you and your family is what every mama is looking for. And a word of encouragement to every mama out there, you can do it! You're stronger than you will ever know.

Karen is one of most compassionate, caring, sweet midwives I have even know. Her passion and love for midwifery is shown during prenatal visits and most Important during birth. During my birth I felt care-for, supported and I knew I was in very good hands. She guided me step by step, never too pushy and never too soft, Karen had the right energy and my labor was smooth. Painful but smooth. Thank You Karen!!
